Each Friday we are visited by Ms. Joann for music. The children enjoy watching Ms. Joann play her guitar as they participate in singing, signing, dancing, and music appreciation.
Joann joined the team at Little Lambs in 2010 when she was working on her masters degree in music therapy. She did a research project with the kids for her clinical practice.
She began working with children in middle school doing volunteer work at her church. In college she began working with children as a part of her degree program.
Joann is also the director of the arts after school program and summer camps at Mason's School of Music, as well as a private music teacher.
In her spare time Ms. Joann enjoys knitting, reading, traveling, spending time outdoors, and playing board games.
Chapel is provided bi-eekly for the 2's, 3's and 4's as well as VPK, and is held located in the church sanctuary. We learn Bible stories, sing praise songs while "signing" them, and we learn to pray together. This is a special time for everyone.
Ms. Julie has 16 years of experience and training in all categories of dance including ballet, pointe, acrobatics, lyrical, modern, jazz, tap, and hip hop. Julie was also a competition team dancer on her high school dance team for 3 years. She has been teaching dance since 2003 and has had a program at LLP since 2006.
Dance class students learn gross motor skills such as skipping, hoping, galloping, walking backwards, etc. They learn rhythm, and direction taking skills through movement games and activities. Children also learn how to do gymnastics mat skills such as forward roll, bridge, handstand, etc. Ballet and tap are offered in this class as the two main forms of dance. Children will also learn a little jazz which is incorporated with their tap routines. Each year in May Ms. Julie hosts a themed recital with costumes and decorations in the Fellowship Hall for the dancers to show off what they have learned. It’s also a fun way to show future dances what they will learn. The entire preschool, as well as friends and family members are ALL invited.
Children must be 3 years old and potty trained to attend dance class. There is a separate monthly fee and a required registration form for this program.
